Parking in Hoorn
Are you coming to Hoorn by car? No need to worry about parking opportunities! Compared to many other cities the tariffs are favourable and there are plenty of parking opportunities for long, medium or short term parking. Some parking opportunities are even free! Even easier: in all parking spaces you have the opportunity to pay via your cell phone or ATM card and the garages in 't Jeudje and het Park accept coins. Of course there are special provisions and permits for residents of the city centre as well as for handicapped people.

Long term parking

You want to park long term? This can be done easily and cheaply -€ 2,70 for a full day- on the Transferium, the Pelmolenpad, the RAC-location(Johan Messchaertstraat) and in the rear area of the Visserseiland.

Mid-term parking

You don’t want to park up for a full day, but longer than 2 hours? The best way to do that is at the Westerdijk, Lambert Meliszweg, the Vale Hen and the Noorderveemarkt. Parking garages Jeudje and het Park are also splendid parking spots in this case!

short term parking (maximum 2 hours)

In Hoorn you can park immediately in front of the majority of the stores. In the middle of the centre there are parking places at the Veemarkt, the Gouw, Gedempte Turfhaven and the Breed. This way you immediately find yourself in the bubbly shopping area!

Free parking

In the parking garages of ‘t Jeudje and schouwburg het Park you can park for free each day until 12 noon! These parking garages are only a few hundred metres from the happening shopping centre. Also, about five minutes’ walking distance from the city centre you will find the free parking area the Nieuwe Wal.

Blue zones

Hoorn also has some so called blue zones, where you can park for free by using a parking disc. You can find these zones outside shopping malls De Grote Beer and Kersenboogerd, the town hall, the Koepoortsweg (partially), Dampten, Loniusstraat, Willem Barentzstraat, Wihelminalaan, the Boelisstraat and the Pater Bleijsstraat.

Take the water taxi!

Do you want to explore Hoorn in a unique manner? Water taxi Hoorn will transport you over water through the harbours or along the coastline of this beautiful historic city. The water taxi transports visitors to the Oostereiland, as well as guests of restaurants etc. to predesignated boarding and disembarking stops (Parking t Jeudje, Nieuwe Wal and Oostereiland). You can get on and off the watertaxi from all available restaurants along the harbour. Costs are € 2,50 p.p.

Hop on hop off Hoorn City Tours

Hop onto an electrical van and experience Hoorn in a unique way. The enthusiastic drivers love taking you on a tour. From April until the end of October Hoorn City Tours organises a daily, regular service through the centre of Hoorn. The waiting time on each stop is a maximum of 30 minutes. There are daily vans between 10:30 en 17:00. Each van has 13 seats. The total duration of the route is around 50 minutes.

Parking with an app!

No more wasting time having to remember registration codes, waiting in lines, small change or ATM cards. By using a parking app on your mobile phone you avoid a lot of irritation and quite possibly a parking fine.

Parking on Sundays and during public holidays

On super-shopping Sundays you can park for free on the outskirts of the city center at the locations: Lambert Meliszweg, Pelmolenpad, RAC location, Transferium, Vale Hen and in parking garages' t Jeudje and theater Het Park. You can park anywhere for free on New Year's Day, Good Friday, First and Second Easter, King's Day and Liberation Day. Parking is also free on Ascension Day, First and Whit Monday and First and Second Christmas Day.

Parking in the garage of the Dijklander Hospital

On Thursday evening (shopping evening from 6 p.m. - 12 p.m.) and on weekends everyone can park for € 1 at a time in the parking garage of the hospital. It is a five minute walk to the city center (via the pedestrian bridge over the station).

Parking for disabled

Holders of a disabled parking card can park on the disabled parking spaces, permit holder places and paid places with the exception of the parking garages Schouwburg the Park and 't Jeudje.
