Atelier Ruud Spil
Ruud Spil (1961) studied at the Ruudt Wackers Academy and at the Hogeschool van Amsterdam (teacher training drawing and painting). He is an enthusiastic painter of mainly cows and sometimes small cattle such as horses, sheep and goats. He prefers to work in stables, pastures and on cattle markets and inspections.
In cows in particular, cows are very close and closely observable. Then he sketches his impressions with charcoal on a board or on paper. In the studio he processes the sketches into paintings in oil on panel or canvas.
Pivot determines breed characteristics, but also the appearance of individual cows, and their behavior. This creates personal portraits.
